Estou assistindo a Special A e uma coisa me incomoda: as músicas de abertura e encerramento da segunda temporada.

Na primeira temporada as músicas eram boas: "Special Days" e "Hidamari no Gate". Não pela melodia, mas pela letra. As novas músicas tem melodias até melhores, mas as letras são daquelas que misturam termos aleatórios em inglês como "and we wish you 1 2 3 go!". Isso me incomoda.

Prefiro quando as músicas fazem sentido. Tudo bem ter termos em inglês ou qualquer outro idioma no meio, mas que façam parte da música!

Qué! Yann Tiersen no Black Session!

Show de St. Vincent cancelado em SP, mantido em Sorocaba

O SESC anunciou que St. Vincent, a ex-guitarrista do Sufjan Stevens e do Polyphonic Spree (o nome dela é Annie Clark, na verdade), iria fazer um show em São Paulo, no SESC Santana.

Fui comprar ingresso, dizia que estava lotado. Voltei pra casa chateada, porque o show é só no dia 11 de fevereiro, então achei que daria tempo. Entrei no site e lá diz cancelado , mas, para minha surpresa, um show em Sorocaba no dia seguinte está mantido.

Só que é quinta-feira, em Sorocaba, às 20h. No chance in hell.

Então, se alguém é da região, faz favor de ir e aproveitar por mim. Essa menina é ótima.

Shiina Ringo - há vida na música japonesa!

Descobri Shiina Ringo e o Tokyo Jihen quando estava tentando ouvir música japonesa que não fosse Pizzicato 5. Cansei de ouvir Pizzicato e não gosto de visual kei e essas coisas. Tava tendo dificuldades de achar outras coisas.

Do nada, me toca "La Salle de Bain" na Last.fm. Daí eu soube que a vida era boa.

A banda veio depois da carreira solo da Shiina, que tem esse nome, Ringo, que quer dizer maçã, mas na verdade tem outro nome.

Eu viciei de tal modo... estou ouvindo faz uns dois dias seguidos. Até descobri outras bandas legais, mas nada similar a isso. Foi como quando eu descobri Of Montreal. Fiquei viciada. Ou Bacilos. Mesma coisa.

A banda do meu momento. Acho que é isso, eu quero ser hippie musical. Folk music é o que há.

Se 3Hive é Sharing the Sharing, então eu sou Sharing the Sharing that's being shared.

Essa música, White Winter Hymnal é totally worth it. Eu só queria conseguir fazer arranjos de vozes como esses.

RJD2 e o cara com as muletas

Já assistiu esse vídeo?



A música é "Work it out", do RJD2, um cara muderno do hip hop que sabe o que tá fazendo. O cara no vídeo é Bill Shannon, artista (não só de dança), que tem um problema no quadril e usa muletas full time. Por conta dessa condição, ele arrumou uma maneira de se expressar com elas. Veja como ele anda de skate com as muletas. É poético!

E o vídeo é feito com uma tomada só. No YouTube você acha uns making ofs, mostrando o RJD2 correndo de um lado pro outro, porque ele tem trocentos papéis no vídeo, mas tinha que fazer tudo junto com a dança. Ele é o barbudo no início, o lixeiro, o skatista, entre outros. Genial.

A nova mania do momento é ouvir o canal de música da Net com a TV desligada. O lado bom de se ter o decodificador hooked on um aparelho de som. Não sinto aquela presença assustadora da televisão ligada. Sempre me dá uma sensação de Ringu quando a TV está ligada e eu não estou vendo.

Eu ouço muito o canal de Jazz clássico, porque eles adoram tocar o disco inteiro da Ella Fitzgerald com o Louis Armstrong, e um disco do Armstrong cantando Cole Porter. Muito Herbie Mann também.

Hoje, muito adequadamente, Louis Armstrong cantou "Let's Do It". Eu só conhecia a versão da Ella, no songbook do Cole Porter, que é duplamente excelente. Essa versão é ainda mais legal. Aqui na minha parede tenho um trecho da letra, e aí abaixo você tem a letra, versão média, porque a longa é muito longa.

Cole Porter

Yamandu Costa biônico

Fui ao show do Yamandú Costa com o Hamilton de Holanda. Os dois tocam muito. Simplesmente inegável a química que existe entre eles, e como eles conseguem se comunicar sem trocar uma palavra. E são ambos mestres, virtuosos sem serem patéticos como o Malmsteen.

Quando o Yamandu toca, fica difícil ver as mãos dele. Rápido demais. Ele movimenta as mãos do mesmo modo que o Super-Homem uma vez voou em volta da Terra para parar o tempo. Se eles continuassem tocando, tenho certeza de que tudo começaria a acontecer mais devagar até que tudo pararia e nos seriamos jogados pra fora do globo pela inércia.

Mas uma coisa que me veio a cabeça quando estava assistindo foi o seguinte: ele tem um controle absurdo sobre onde os dedos dele devem ir pra fazer uma música bonita e tocar milhões de notas ao mesmo tempo. Ele consegue guardar centenas de melodias completas na cabeça. Ele não tinha partitura, nada. Só saía tocando. Basicamente, o cérebro dele e as mãos estão em total e irrestrita sintonia.

Continuando o raciocínio, e se, e apenas e se, existisse um gênio violonista como ele, um cara sensacional, mas que perdesse a mão num acidente. Triste e tal, mas e blá, existindo tecnologias pra criar novos dedos, será que ele conseguiria imprimir a mesma emoção, técnica e qualidade na música?

Será que seria como tocar com a mão de outra pessoa? Ou como comandar um computador a fazer algo? Por mais que seu cérebro seja o controlador dos impulsos da prótese, quão fidedigno será o impulso do cérebro quando chegar ao fim do caminho?

Um computador pode jogar xadrez e ganhar de um mestre. Um computador pode se tornar um virtuoso da música? Pode improvisar, fazer uma jam com um outro músico? Isso já nada tem a ver com os dedos biônicos não. Fico pensando na sintonia entre o Yamandú e o Hamilton. Pode um computador ser programado tão sofisticadamente que ele perceba intenções num olhar, para poder jammear?

Incrível tudo isso que a tecnologia já pode fazer hoje pela humanidade, e mais incrível ainda e o quanto ainda existe para ser feito. Supondo que será feito, claro. Mas algumas coisas são melhores como mistérios da vida. Não quero que descubram como ser genial em algo apenas acoplando uma máquina. Não quero viver na Matrix.

Do Revolver, um dos meus favoritos. Essa musica dá vontade de pular. Simplesmente sair pulando pela casa e falando "And your bird can swing!"

4. Touchy! - A-Ha
Eu lembro de quando fomos na Bilbox do shopping Morumbi, a única loja que tinha CDs na cidade, na época, comprar nosso primeiro CD. Sim, porque o primeiro CD das crianças da família teve que ser coletivo pra acontecer. Não era o tipo de coisa que se comprava barato. "Stay on These Roads" foi uma opção com que todos concordavam. E Touchy foi a razão pra comprar o disco!

2. Katamari on the Swing - Matsuzaki Shigeru
Eu só joguei Katamari Damaci umas duas vezes na vida e achei adorável. Uma amiga me mandou as trilhas sonoras. Essa música e do disco We Love Katamari. Tem um pa-pa-ri-ra-pa-pa irresistível! Pra não dançar, só sendo um robô malvado.

Indiscutivelmente a música mais alegre do universo. Você precisa imediatamente sair andando pelas ruas de São Paulo cumprimentando estranhos e rodopiando ao redor de postes quando essa música toca. E obrigatório.
